PA Fellowship
Curriculum Outline
Though subject to change, here are the major components of the ARMC OB/GYN PA Curriculum.

Outpatient Clinics
& ObGyn Procedures
Majority of fellowship experience takes place in the outpatient setting (~4 days per week) depending on scheduling needs; flexibility encouraged
Clinic (OB/GYN/Procedures)
The PA fellow will participate in new OB visits, routine OB visits, and postpartum visits as well as new GYN and return GYN visits.
The PA fellow will participate in procedures: IUD insertion/removal, Nexplanon insertion/removal (after completing formal training course), endometrial biopsy, colposcopy (after completing formal training course).
​Subspecialty Clinics
ARMC has Urogynecology, Gynecology Oncology, and Maternal Fetal Medicine Clinics. PA Fellows are not typically scheduled to rotate through such clinics; however, those with a demonstrated interest who have met or exceeded expectations may elect to rotate if scheduling allows.
Inpatient ObGyn
Postpartum, triage, labor management, deliveries
Inpatient scheduling (~ 1 day per week) depending on scheduling needs; flexibility encouraged

​L&D/Triage/Postpartum
The PA fellow will participate in postpartum care, inpatient OB and triage, labor management and deliveries, assist in cesarean deliveries, and GYN consults in the ED.
​
Surgical experience is gained mostly through assisting in cesarean deliveries.
PA fellows do not typically participate in GYN surgeries.
Ultrasound
US shadowing, lectures, instruction.
PA fellows will learn to perform limited ultrasounds, first trimester abdominal obstetric ultrasounds, and fetal biometry.
Advanced ultrasound including vaginal cervix length assessment, first trimester ultrasound for viability or dating, fetal anatomical assessment, and Doppler sonography may be performed under direct supervision.

Lectures, Conferences, Trainings
Lectures on OB/GYN topics
NPCC (Nurse/Physician Collaboration) monthly meeting
M&M (Morbidity & Mortality) monthly meeting
Signout daily: Patients hospitalized or in triage are discussed including presentation, differential diagnosis, exam, and management plan as patient care is transferred to oncoming team.
Colposcopy Conference - In person training, CME credits available
Nexplanon Training and Certification
IUD Training and Certification
Miscellaneous
Evaluations, Call, Outside Clinics
Performance Evaluations - scheduled quarterly with program leadership
Call Shifts - Call shifts refer to extra weekend or holiday shifts being at the hospital and working on L&D. Optional if interested.
Outside clinics - Potential to be assigned after at least 4 months of experience. This experience offers more autonomy; physician available to review patients by phone if necessary
